About Us

Misti D. Whitehead, Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), holds a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from AOMA Graduate School of Integrated Medicine in Austin, Texas. Durning internship, she acquired over 1,000 hours of clinical experience in Acupuncture and Herbolgy.  Dr. Whitehead completed two medical internships at Chengdu University of Traditional Medicine Teaching Hospital in China. Here she provided acupuncture treatments for both inpatients and outpatients and the privilege of working with top Chinese doctors in treatments for diabetes, infertility, gynecology, and classical herbology. She studied Tai Qi and Qi Gong with the Kung Fu coach of China’s Olympic Gold Medal team. Dr. Whitehead has additional training in clinical aromatherapy, medical hypnosis, and Eastern nutritional healing. She has had direct teachings of Esoteric Acupuncture from Mikio Sankey and the Tan Balance Method with Dr. Tan. Misti attended undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico focusing on Liberal Arts before attending graduate school. Dr. Whitehead is licensed to practice acupuncture and herbal treatment by the New Mexico Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Colorado licensed acupuncturist and is certified dipolmate by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine. Since 2009, Dr. Whitehead has enjoyed a private practice in Hobbs, New Mexico and in 2022 expanded to Crested Butte, CO.
