Misti D. Whitehead, Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), holds a Master’s degree in Science of Oriental Medicine (MSOM). Misti has been practicing Eastern medicine for over 20 years. She began her studies at AOMA Graduate School of Integrated Medicine in Austin, Texas. Misti was privileged to learn acupuncture directly from Dr. Susan Yang. She was one of two lifetime students of Master Liang Yue Deng, the editor and compiler of Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the text used world wide as the standard of acupuncture point location and theory. She then completed two medical internships at Chengdu University of Traditional Medicine Teaching Hospital in China in 2005 and 2007. There Dr. Whitehead provided acupuncture treatments for inpatients and outpatients and had the privilege of working with top Chinese doctors in treatment of diabetes, infertility, gynecology, and classical herbology. She practiced Tai Qi and Qi Gong in the forest of Mount Emeishan with the Kung Fu coach of China’s Olympic Gold Medal team which helped her grow in mental and physical strength. Misti also studied directly under Mikio Sankey to learn the teachings of Esoteric Acupuncture and also with Dr. Richard Tan who developed the Tan Balance Method. Along with Dr. Yang, these are the modern day Masters that Misti accredits to her success in Oriental Medicine.
Misti is also a Certified Functional Medicine practitioner and combines this knowledge with Eastern Medicine.
